The term "whitelisting" (or "safe senders list") refers to telling your email software that the email from a given sender is not spam.
If, like most people, your email system includes spam filtering then whitelisting is the only way to guarantee that none of the emails from a given sender will be filtered as spam.
It is a common misconception that if one email from a given sender makes it through a spam filter that all will. That is often not the case.
